The Colour Roulette: A Design Tutorial by Karijn-s-Basement The Colour Roulette: A Design Tutorial by Karijn-s-Basement
This has been cross-posted on my main account, Karijn.

This is not my main form of inspiration, but it's a lot of fun and helps a lot when I'm stuck and I don't know what to draw anymore.

The nice thing is that you never get the same three things for one colour, they always change. Well, not always, but you'll see that even if one or two remain the same, the one that changes can produce a totally different design.

but what if you have to use every color in a 5 color palette? then what's a good way to coordinate?

I usually use the most desaturated ones for background and do the markings with the saturated ones. All palettes have some kind of balance. Another thing you can try is to do every part of the design on a different layer (base, gradient, design and extras) and then change the colours of the palette until you find the version you like best. :)

That's a really good way, I'll have to give it a shot, and I hope my questions aren't bothering you xD

I'm gonna use this to make an adopt. I read this tutorial to my mom and she said "So like a sun yellow... Sun, daisy, and taxicab? You know what? I want you to make me a drawing using that!" So I'm gonna.

I have one question~
If let say there's someone who wanted to claim this adoptable~
Then, allow them to use the design based from this tuto right? Does that mean you have to provide the back view, side view and front view of your adoptable? Just curious~

Thank you for reminding me of her status, this design has been bought so she's no longer up for adoption. ^^;
Anyway, when you do an adoptable, it's not necessary to do all possible views of it. Sure, it adds to its value because there's more art, but as long as the front view has a clear depiction of the details, there's no need to do anything else. =)

It really depends on you and your style. Chibis are more 'cute', though many fullbodies done in anime style still manage to look cute, and that is a helping factor in selling, but it's really up to you and what you feel comfortable with. ;)

This will probably sound stupid once I've finished typing it but how exactly do you give the original file to just the one deviant? I'm interested in starting adoptables (and your guide has been so resourceful)- but thought I should figure this one out.

You either send a private note with a sta.sh link (the nice part of sta.sh is that nobody can see it unless you give out the link) or add the original file to the 'Premium Content' downloads, so if someone uses the download button, they get the original file.

Unfortunately, on sheets with multiple adoptables you can't give out the single adoptable to the single adopter, unless you change download file *every time*, and even then you risk that someone who already purchased the deviation could download the new content without paying a second time.

I generally use the PButton+Original File only when I have a commission or a single adoptable, and sta.sh for the multiple sheets. =)

Ok, thanks for explaining! I was mostly confused about Sta.sh because I assumed it had something to do with that. You cleared up my confusion ^ ^

Busy, don't have the time to study, don't have the time to draw, and I managed to get two days of holiday just because I tricked my tutor. T_T

(No way in hell I'm giving him my free time on Christmas, no sir.)
